Look at that! Successful server move courtesy of those wild and crazy guys at Nightgig! What a job, too. Not a single file out of place! Scott had me back everything up (which is a good idea to do ANYWAYS), but it wasn't even needed because he knows what he's doing!
So, instead of playing around with the html code for the index page every day when I update, I decided to do this RSS widget thing instead. It's certainly MUCH easier. I can just update the blog and it shows up in the feed...widget...thing. Yeah, I'm good with technology.
Anyways, this was really just a test post to make sure everything was working properly. There'll be a proper post tomorrow with the update!

Long Time, No Post
Well, for the few of you that can find this thing without the website:
Nightgig's doing a server move this weekend. That's why the website's all wonky and missing pages and reverting back to Dec 1st.
Hopefully, this won't effect Monday morning's update!

Holy CRAP! A newspost?!
Yeah, I don't do many of these, do I? I suppose I should, or something.
As you can see, the main story of The Path is taking a bit of a break to bring a side-story/prequel story in order to buy myself some time on reworking some of the next few issues. SHAMELESS STALLING PLOY, HOOOOOOOO!
The current story, "The Cutty Black Sow", is the first Chance McGavin story I ever wrote, and is loosely based on both the Irish folk tale and the episode of "Tales From the Darkside" by the same name.
Following Cutty Black Sow will be a another short one in honor of Halloween entitled "Old Horn Head" and will play up Cernunnos' Lord of the Hunt aspect. Something that is, sometimes, associated with Halloween (or Samhain, rather).
Then we'll be back to the regular story.
Also, plan on being at Wizard World Texas in November? Well, then you should come check out me and my Mediocre Militia cohorts in the Artists' Alley!
And that's that for now.

The Path gets a facelift
So, in preparation of Diamond-ness, I've been going back to old pages of The Path and gussying them up a bit. Adding the crosshatching I've been using lately, and in some cases, replacing panels that I didn't like. Then, it hit me:
I don't really like ANY of my old pages. Like, at ALL.
If I'm not too fond of them, I could only imagine what people in shops nation-wide would think. Don't get me wrong, The Path's selling well...but I've grown into the style I set out to do it in. The pages from issues 4 and 5 are way better than the pages in issues 1-3.
So I started redrawing them. ALL of them. Below is a "Before and after" example of what I've been doing. This is also giving me the chance to tweak some issues I've come across in the story now that I have the advantage of hindsight. I think that you'll agree that the new version is going to kick all kinds of ass. ALL. KINDS. OF. ASS. Yes, even THAT kind.

Antisocial: Cat Toss
So, while I was at A-kon, my roommates bought a kitten. I'm not the biggest fan of cats, but the little fucker is cute. My favorite game to play with the kitten is throwing it across the room at the couch, and she sticks to it like a little, squeaking velcro ball, then comes running back over. Well, my roommate Heidi walked in on my game and, well...

This is actually from a conversation I had with Ananth yesterday. Poor Hawk.
Ananth and Hawk appear courtesy of the extremely awesome Applegeeks.com. If you don't read it, you deserve to be shot in the face.

A-Kon Shout-out of DOOM! or: Ia! Ia! A-kon Ftgagn!
So, seriously. A-Kon was awesome. They're stuck with me for life now. So are THESE ridiculously cool people and their equally awesome comics!
Ananth and Hawk! (these guys fucking rule)
Heidi and Micha! (both of whom are hawt and crazy!)
Mookie!(a fellow Lovecraftian!)
Jenny Breeden! (three-day long rubber band fight)
Xero!
Last, but certainly not least...my unfortunate publisher and erstwhile boss-lady Juno!
Special mentions definitely go to Lindsey, Sam, and Aaron!
I should do a more in-depth post...but you can go check out my posts at both Mediocre Militia and my Myspace page. Because I'm f'ing lazy. And at work.

I'm the Lord of the Wasteland, a Modern-day Man of Steel.
I was raised by the demons,
Trained to reign as the one.
GOD OF THUNDER! AND ROCK AND RO-WO-WOOAAALLLLL!
I fucking love that song. From now on, you are all required to refer to me as The God of Thunder and Rock and Ro-wo-wooaaalllll. And you have to say it like that, too. THIS, I COMMAND!
ANYWAYS, cool things are going on. The Path is selling well at conventions. I've been getting a fair amount of freelance work. The Path has yet ANOTHER mirror over at the Rampage Network...click here to check it out. The layout's actually pretty nifty if I do say so myself (I designed it).
Romantic life is looking up. Professional life is looking up. Oh, and did I mention I have a fucking MOUNTAIN OF BEER in my garage? Life is GOOD.
Those of you that are going to be at A-kon this upcoming weekend in Dallas, well...you should come mosey down to the Artists' Alley (Where I BELONG. Booths are cool and all, but I miss the artist alley.). Why-ever-for? Oh, only because I'll be there. I'll be there with my sometimes partners-in-crime/nifty publishers Bohemian Trash Studios promoting/selling comics, doing sketches, and at some point I'll be on a panel talking about story-driven comics. It will be INFORMATIVE! Come learn the secrets behind my God-like awesomeness and sun-like aura of gold! Or, y'know, come listen to how Lovecraft scarred me for life and now I'm a belligerent drunkard to interweaves the Cthulhu Mythos with every other mythology I come across and leave mutated mythological love-children behind. Either way.
That's it for now, children Go forth and spread chaos. Crawling chaos.

THE NEW BLOOD FORCE X-DIVERS EXTREME FORCE EXTREME! (or: What we did at NY Comic Con)
It belongs in a MUSEUM!
With a bit of a rocky start due to airline shenanigans, Bohemian Trash Studios made a damn good showing at New York Comic Con '08! The Path sold great. Star-Crossed Destiny sold great. Dis: Life is Hell sold great. Zona sold great. Sketches were sold, prints were sold, and people kept coming to the booth looking for the creators of the comics we had.
Like with most cons, inside jokes were flying like bullets at a rap show. It was a good weekend, albeit a rather sleepless one. Also, Juno looks so much like my Aunt Jane that it's creepy. We remain convinced we are related somehow.
But you guys don't give a crap about that. You want PICTURES! Well, you'll have to settle with pics from Sunday...because it's all I've got at the moment.
Riot and Jojo
Juno and Jojo
Check out that rack (The comic one. It was pretty cool.)
A blurry pic of the banners. There's a better one somewhere. I'll post it when I find it.
Oh, and one video of Juno rocking out.
Tune in next time for a little about the single greatest story EVER: D.I.V.E.R.S.

Drunk Duck Adventures: The Mighty Drunk Duckers
So this is a project that was born out of the ashes of Drunk Duck Civil War. Because, let's be serious. It's been over a year. We've barely finished two issues of DDCW. Zac is non-exsitent, and I really can't keep the project afloat on my own. It's too big, and has too many aspects to manage.
Drunk Duck Adventures is a stream-lined version of DDCW, focusing on a handful of the main characters and ignoring, basically, the events of DDCW. Think of it like the Marvel Adventures line. In fact, I'm really toying with the idea of ducking out of DD altogether with this one and just publish it here on ODK. Even drop the "Drunk Duck Adventures" title and rename the team. DD just sort of seems like it's slowly being choked to death by Platinum.
Pages go live after New York Comic Con.

So, yeah. No one will really get today's Antisocial. That's ok, though. Maybe one or two of you will, and it'll give you a chuckle. Lisa's one of those unattainably hot/cool trendy girls who works at this little hole-in-the-wall record store that I always go into looking for weird shit. Our conversations are exactly like this: song quotes. Nothing more.

Antisocial: Speed Dating
So about a month or so ago, my friend Chris and I went to one of the "Speed Dating" things up in Santa Monica. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept...watch "The 40yr Old Virgin". The following account is almost 100% accurate (I think I drank a LOT more than shown). This proves my continuing stance that I should not be allowed out in public.

The Rioteer: Iguana Doom Preview
Just a quick little preview of pages for The Rioteer: Iguana Doom. It's kind of fun redrawing these pages from their original strip-style to full page versions. I've got the first ten pages penciled. These are the only two I'm done inking so far.
It's even more fun because I know that Dave (Acadia) is going to be coloring them.

Sketch card Dump: Part 3
...and that's it for today.
If you want a sketch card, most of you know how to reach me. Those of you that don't, well...riot.james@gmail.com.
They're 3"x4" and colored with Prismacolor markers. I've been selling them for $5 a pop, and they seem to be moving pretty well. Which is cool. Can't turn down extra money.

Long Over-due Update
Yeah, i should actually post here every once in a while, huh?
Let's see...where to begin?
Wizard World La was fun. Mainly because the weekend really consisted of Carly and me making fun of each other while doing sketches and drawings for people. Carly was doing quick sketches of people for $1 and probably did about 300 sketches by the time we closed up shop on Sunday. I did half that number (because I did mine in color), but still made some decent money. I plan to spend it on beer.
I met Angus Oblong, who is really cool, and am working on getting him to do a guest cover. I'm offering booze, so he might take it. Also, the ridiculously gorgeous girl working his booth with him thought I was cute and gave me her number. Clearly, this means she's insane, but we all know I likes my women good n' crazy.
Speaking of booze, I kept smuggling it into the show. Fun times were had by all.
The nice people at the table next to us bought sketches from Carly and myself, and even gave us cookies! Even better than cookies, I was given commissions for a comic art gallery because everyone digs my marker work. Really, who can blame them? I'm fucking awesome at it.
The Path has found a home in the print media! After shopping it around, and fielding a few offers, I decided to go with Bohemian Trash Studios. Mainly because I really dig Juno's comic "Star Crossed Destiny", and The Path'd be coming out in print alongside it. Plus, they're not making me change any of the more disturbing aspects of The Path like some of the other studios wanted me to. The Path's print run debuts at New York Comic Con in April, and will be available...um...in places and on-line.I'll post info and links as I get them.
Even crazier than the rest...I got an offer to pitch The Path to Dreamworks! Fuckin' A! Apparently the gentleman that came by liked the strange premises (premisees? premisai?) of The Path and The Rioteer and wants me to pitch ideas to the studio. I figured this was just some fruitless gabbing on his part, but he found me again the next day with several other men in suits in tow and made sure to introduce me to all of them and give me cards and make sure I was going to call to set up an appointment. Who knows? maybe you'll see Chance get the shit kicked out of him on the big/little screen?
There's probably a thousand more things I should be writing about here, but I'm a little busy trying to get a head-start on drawings to give away at NYCC next month.
James Riot...AWAY!
